we slept pretty late today… but it was very much needed! we wale up for class around 7 everday and don’t have dinner until about 8:30 or so every night… which means bedtime is around midnight or so. so sleep was good! then we headed back to the opera house for a tour. again, gorgeous! we couldn’t go inside because there was a dress rehearsal or something, but like i said before, i am looking forward to the ballet if we can get tickets!

then we took the metro to montmatre, which is probably by favorite part of paris so far!! it is so precious! we got off the metro and were immediately welcomed by the many little shops, bakeries, steps, and old buildings! we saw where picasso lived for a few years and painted les madmoiselles d’avignon, which was kind of cool! then we headed off to find the sacre ceoure (i cant remember if thats how you spell it or not, but whatev)! it is a beautiful white basillica that sits atop a hill overlooking all of paris!!! gorgeous!! you couldnt take pictures inside, but it is one of the most beautiful churches i have ever seen! there is a wonderful fresco on the ceiling of Christ, and there were a lot of little chapels surrounding the large apse! after walking around the church, we went to find the cemetary. on the way there, though, we stopped at the place de terre which had a bunch of little open air shops (big touriste attraction), and it was pretty cute! we went in a few shops and decided we needed to come back for gifts!

we finally found the cemetary and it is huge! i wanted to look around for degas and dumas, but they were pretty far away so we just looked around a bit and then left. i might go back to find degas later if i have time. then we went down ave de rachel and found the moulin rouge! pretty cool! then we went home and took a nap…haha! for dinner that night we had ravioli ( sooo good!), and then went on a boat tour down the river!  we got to see the Louvre, the musee d’orsay, the pont neuf (oldest bridge in paris), notre dame, and the prison where marie antoinette was kept. the boat didnt have outside lights, so my pics aren’t great (surprise, surprise), but it was a very pretty tour and a nice night! 11€ for the hour long ride. oh yeah, our ride was complete with two sets of happy couples who sat in front of and behind us… it kind of made me sick.
